Mathare in Focus: a vernissage of photos by CMETrust scholars << Prev | Next >>

The Ottawa chapter of Canada-Mathare Education Trust (CMETrust) is hosting the first annual Mathare In Focus fundraiser, a vernissage of photographs taken by CMETrust scholarship recipients. The pictures in the exhibition will also appear in the 2010 calendar, which we will be launching at this event. The event is being held Saturday November 14th 2009 at Arts Court, 2 Daly Avenue, Ottawa. Doors open at 7pm.
The photographs were taken after CMETrust scholars from the Mathare slum in Kenya participated in a workshop in April where they were asked to take photos depicting “real life” in the Mathare slums. Some images are very positive and hopeful while others are less so yet always depicting the reality of their situations.
The evening includes live music, silent auction, appetizers, and a cash bar.
