The National Capital Opera Society is inviting the public to the Brian Law Opera Scholarship Competition to be held Saturday, November 21, at 7:00 pm. Six finalists, all from the Ottawa area, at the beginning of their professional careers, will compete for $8,500 in prizes. They will each perform three arias from operas that include Le Nozze di Figaro, Il barbiere di Siviglia, La Fille du Régiment, Faust, Carmen, Samson et Dalila, Eugene Onegin, and Candide. Special guest, soprano Yannick-Muriel Noah, the winner in 2007, will sing "Ritorna vincitor!" from Aida and "Un bel dě vedremo" from Madama Butterfly, which she has recently performed at the Canadian Opera Company, to rave reviews.
