Daniel Poliquin Reads from Rêve de Champlain

One of Canada’s leading francophone writers, Daniel Poliquin will read from Rêve de Champlain , his translation of David Hackett Fischer’s Champlain’s Dream. Poliquin is the author of a dozen books in French, mainly novels and short story collections. His latest novel, A Secret Between Us, was short listed for the 2007 Giller Prize, while the French version, La Kermesse, was nominated for the Trillium Book Award, and recipient of the Ottawa Book Award. The author is a Chevalier in the Ordre de la Pléiade, a recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Medal and a Member of the Order of Canada. Poliquin is also a noted literary translator. The reading commemorates the 400th anniversary of Samuel de Champlain’s voyage up the Ottawa River.
